That Worked!
Thanks.
2010-03-05-10:10 #2197409You are a very lucky guy, if you have several wireless networks. The maintainer of this distro (vector) is very busy currently, but i’m sure that he will tell you something about wicd and wireless.
2010-03-05-10:56 #2197410what network device ?
what network encrypt ?what is the signal strength?
wicd ? you use wicd or original network manager ?you update the system already ?
2010-03-05-12:50 #2197411Signal strength is fine. I have two wireless networks I can use, one uses WPA encryption and the other has no passcode. I've tried the native BCM43xx and also a PCMCIA wireless card. I was impressed that BlackPanther could use my B43xx, since so many distros won't, especially KDE ones.

You can update the system with kpackagekit. You can find it in the menu in Tools/System tools (it is probably among the favorites of the Lancelot menu, as well). There you can see a „software update” option. If you click it, bP will be updated. In the Settings you can change the options of automatic update checks.
I hope the update will help.

blingenfelter wrote:I can reinstall and choose Gnome or XFCE as my desktop, too. I've always found Gnome easier (with wireless), but I like KDE better. If you like KDE don't do that. Even if it is possible to install different environments, bP is designed for KDE.
2010-03-05-16:16 #2197413Using the BCM43xx you need the b43-firmware to install! Manual download here: ftp://ftp.blackpanther.hu/blackPanther/OS/All/Drivers/broadcom/
or please run this application : blackPanther Menu (Lancelot)>System Settings> blackPanther OS (tab)> Connection Wizard
The wizard will automatically download the neccessary frimware for you wireless card… Once that's done then you can test , first on
2010-03-06-13:00 #2197414Thanks for all the help.
BP is a really fresh, impressive distro.
