Erdekes modon sokan jelentenek meg most is bcm43xx gondokat a Mepis foruman, igy nyitottam egy topikot, es megkerdeztem, hogy a beta4 alatt muxik-e rendesen:

Many Improvements for SimplyMEPIS-32 and SimplyMEPIS-64 in Beta4

Morgantown, WV, Jan 24, 2007 — MEPIS has announced Beta4 of SimplyMEPIS-32 and SimplyMEPIS-64 Version 6.0-4. This release introduces several improvements in wireless support.
Warren Woodford of MEPIS reports „A big change is in the kernel. Updating to 2.6.17-20 is a lot more difficult than it sounds. MEPIS is meant for everybody, not just the Linux users on the bleeding edge. The fact is, kernels after 2.6.16 have introduced many changes that are good for some, but that break the system for others.
In Beta 4, SimplyMEPIS adds the NXclient as a preinstalled application. The kernel drivers for fuse, rt61, and alsa have also been updated to the latest version. A driver for alt1 gigabit lan chip has been added. While improving the MEPIS utilities they were renamed as Assistants to better communicate that they are there to help one easily configure the system. Automatic configuration for Intel graphics was improved. The foomatic printer database was stripped of a large number of non-existent driver which were confusing users when installing a printer. The latest version of Opera and xvidcap were backported to the package pools but not preinstalled on CD.
Warren also announced an exciting new feature „Now the MEPIS System Assistant will install SimplyMEPIS 32 or 64 from a CD to a USB key. It will also reformat the key so it will be properly recognized on any machine that can boot from USB key. This should only be done with a high-speed key. Unfortunately the key is incompatible with MacTel firmware, so this will only work on a PC.”
„I think a cool way to use the key is to demonstrate MEPIS to your friends or boss, on their machine, but at nearly hard drive speeds. And if they like MEPIS, you can also install SimplyMEPIS in about one minute from a fast key to their hard drive. But if you do this, please, suggest that they go to the MEPIS store and pay for their copy.”
The latest ISO image is available for download in the ‘testing’ subdirectory at the MEPIS Subscriber’s Site and at MEPIS public mirrors. Satisfied users are encouraged to make a contribution or make a purchase at the MEPIS store. Your support helps offset the costs of producing SimplyMEPIS 6.0 and funds further development of MEPIS Linux.
The final release date has been pushed back to approximately February 10 but users who switch to SimplyMEPIS now can keep up-to-date with the final changes by updating periodically from the MEPIS pool.
